According to Ricoh Digital Camera Special Blog,  some images has been released regarding the Ricoh GXR camera with leica M mount. It is a good news from Ricoh recently for Ricoh’s fans who can be excited for a few months. Except the Leica range finder camera body, now Ricoh would be the new digital camera brand to use Leica M mount lens other than the old Epson.

Except the huge Leica M mount lenses, Cosina also produces other M mount lenses in Voigtlander and Zeiss Ikon brands. The most attractive and excited lenses would be the super wide which have pretty beautiful optical quality with resonable cost.  I was impressed by the quality of Super Wide Heliar 15mm lens on a Leica M6 body at 12 years ago, especially at the four edges of images. It could be a poison that put someone involves into RF photography immediately.

Is it a good chance to get this GXR for your favorite lenses?

The Ricoh GR series film cameras could be a legend in industrial. However I did try the GXR last year, it couldn’t impress me so much. From turning on the camera to review the image,  I couldn’t find any special on it. Focusing speed and noise performance could be the main issues. The interface of the camera is not that friendly if you used to use Canon or Nikon stuff.

Good quality lenses can solve optic quality issue, but the images quality depends on the sensor, processor engine and most other digital technologies that combined with a whole system.
