After the culture discovery trip and a dinner in Kakegawa, I suggested go Paul’s place immediately so that Hiroshi could get home early. By 15mins driving, we arrived a building via a small town. 7pm sky was dark, Followed the car’s front lamps I just could see a mini bus parked in fron of the building. I had been told that’s the bus I would take soon.

Hiroshi helped me to move my luggage onto the mini bus, and also grabbed a small foldable umbrella from his car and told me that it’s in case to keep one with me for rainy days  in Tohoku. My brain was frozen for a second and couldn’t make a sound by touching of  this moment, a low ambient light environment, a very small umbrella from a kindly person. It’s not umbrella, it’s caring with love from a heart.   Hiroshi put his right hand on my shouder and faced to me said:” it is time I should go home, thank you very much, Ting for being a volunteer in Tohoku from other country, I am praying for you, wish you have a safe trip there and get back to Australia safely, God will give good luck and happiness for you and your family……”  He sounded really like a kind father, before he finished praying, I was deeply moved to tears and gave him a big hug immediately, I couldn’t control my feeling and stop crying on his shoulder……., I was touched not just for this moment, in previous month contacting everyone he could, a lot of phone calls, email. From planning, preparation, in progress, unsuccess to success, every stage he was supported by his religion and spirit, he should be an example of helpful person with great compassion.

After Watching  the Hiroshi’s red taillights speeding off  and disappearing in darkness, I walked in the building with heavy heart, and talked with Paul and other young volunteer members who from the States regarding the works. They had finished packing the sliced meats and chopped  vegetables by foam cartons. I also collected the disposable dishware into a plastic carrying box, even some musical instruments onto the bus. Driving via freeway, from Kakegawa to Ishinomaki takes about 12 hours, this volunteer group has been doing 1 day volunteer work there from every Friday, and return back and arrive Kakegawa 3am on Sunday. That’s the great perseverance and caring of love they have.
